Hector Rosario, PhD

Dr. Hector Rosario brings almost three decades of teaching and leadership experience spanning diverse educational landscapes. With a doctorate from Columbia University under the tutelage of Professor Bruce Vogeli, his career journey includes impactful roles within K–12 settings in four states, engagement with prison education in North Carolina, and a tenured full professorship at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. Currently serving as a Courtesy Professor at the University of Florida's Department of Mathematics, Hector's influence extends globally, marked by over two decades of speaking engagements and workshop leadership across Latin America, the United States, India, and China. Notably, he has contributed significantly to the field of mathematics education as an author and editor of three seminal works, including Mathematics and Its Teaching in the Southern Americas (2015, co-authored with Bruce Vogeli and Patrick Scott), Math Makes Sense! A Constructivist Approach to the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics (2016, co-authored with Ana Helvia Quintero), and Mathematical Outreach: Explorations in Social Justice Around the Globe (2019).
